Wealthy divorced women less likely to remarry

There's a saying that love is sweeter the second time around. If a recent survey is correct, this saying seems to be especially true in the case of wealthy men who have divorced. The survey, which was conducted by the dating website MillionaireMatch.com, surveyed 5,000 of it members who had previously gone through a divorce.

Of those wealthy divorced men surveyed, 83 percent responded they would consider remarrying within five years. This number was in contrast to divorced millionaire women, with only 32 percent saying they'd consider remarrying within five years and 70 percent saying they'd either never remarry or wouldn't consider doing so for at least 10 years.

There could be many reasons why wealthy divorced men appear more eager and willing to once again tie the knot. One psychotherapist relayed her belief that many wealthy women are actually happier being single. A wealthy woman may fear than a man would only be attracted to her because of her wealth. It may also be possible that with children to raise and a successful career, many wealthy divorced women simply don't have the time or energy to spend on finding a new husband.

In addition to remaining divorce, women are also more likely to initiate a divorce with two-thirds filing for divorce. Today, more women who are choosing to marry, be it for the first or second time, are also requesting that a spouse sign a prenuptial agreement.

Wealthy women who are either planning to marry or seeking a divorce would be wise to contact a legal professional who has experience handling high asset divorces and helping women retain wealth and assets. A divorce attorney can assist clients in drafting a prenuptial agreement as well as help provide for a favorable divorce settlement.
