Asset division hearing in Manhattan divorce draws reprimand

New York residents keeping abreast of the divorce travails of former "Real Housewives of New York City" star Bethenny Frankel may be interested in the latest chapter.

The Manhattan Supreme Court Justice handling the high asset divorce between Frankel and her husband Jason Hoppy had some harsh words for the 43-year-old TV star for recently posting a photo of herself on Instagram wearing the couple's 4-year-old daughter's pajamas.

The justice admonished, "No more pajamas!" Frankel's attorney did not disagree with the judicial assessment of its appropriateness but explained that it was done only as a joke. However, the judge did not see the humor in the photo opportunity, remarking, "It's not a joke. Her child is not a joke." She expressed her concerns regarding the longevity of the image on the internet when the little girl is able to access the post herself and perhaps develop self-image issues.

The exchange took place between the two opposing counsel and the judge during negotiations regarding the valuation of assets to be divided between Hoppy and Frankel. The former reality star has an estimated net worth of $55 million.

While the two continue to battle it out regarding their material goods, the matter of custody has been settled and the two will share custody of their only child.

The picture in question shows Frankel standing up, clad in her young daughter's "Hello Kitty" sleepwear that consists of shorts, a pink ruffled top, and matching children's slippers. The caption, written by Frankel, was, "This is my daughter's nightgown and PJ shorts. Think we're ready to start sharing clothes yet?"

The post quickly went viral on the internet and critics were harsh on the buff-bodied Frankel for its inappropriateness.

High asset divorces between celebrities and others with great wealth require discretion and finesse from all of the parties -- most certainly the attorneys who will know private details about the couple. A Manhattan attorney with experience in high profile cases is recommended.
