Fathers' rights | You can take action against unwanted adoption

By now, most unmarried fathers understand the importance of establishing paternity early on to protect their fathers' rights. In fact, the father of a child must consent to an adoption before it can take place legally. Despite this, many fathers in New York and across the nation have lost their child to an unwanted adoption.

Talking with your kids about your divorce

In New York and elsewhere, children with parents who are divorcing typically have more needs than other children. Chief among these is the need to be assured that things will be all right and that both parents love them no matter what. Children also need to have their questions and concerns addressed. After all, they are part of the family, too, and their voices matter, especially during events as trying as divorce.

In a high net worth divorce your spouse could be hiding assets

When the topic of divorced finally lands on the table, many New York couples are relieved and ready to get out of the relationship. Despite this, divorces often get very messy very quickly, even when both parties are eager for the split. When high value assets are at stake, the situation can go from bad to worse in the blink of an eye. Some spouses even go so far as to try hiding a portion of marital property.

Should you get a restraining order?

Divorce is never an easy choice, but sometimes the parties realize that it is the best choice for all concerned. Other times, one party wants out while the other has no inclination that there are marital problems.
